March 25, 2020 – Office Update

LATEST IRS UPDATE – https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/filing-and-payment-deadlines-questions-and-answers

Per IRS Notice 2020-18, which supersedes Notice 2020-17, the IRS has extended the 2019 tax return filing deadline from 4/15/20 to 7/15/20 with no penalties or interest, and 2019 income tax payments and 1Q20 estimated tax payments are also delayed until 7/15/2020.  However, at this time, it does not appear that the payment deadline is extended for 2Q20 federal estimated tax payment deadlines, so we should assume those payments are still due 6/15/2020.  Colorado has said that it will mirror IRS guidance, but other states may have earlier filing and payment deadlines.  We will ensure that you are prepared to meet all of the various filing deadlines.  In light of this extended filing deadline due to the coronavirus outbreak, we will continue to work remotely preparing returns on a first-in, first-out basis on a normal schedule and will continue to be in touch with you about your tax filing requirements.

All Colorado schools are shut down through April 17, so our office will continue to be closed to the public through April 17 out of an abundance of caution to protect our clients and employees. At that time, we will make a decision as to whether to continue our office closure.  Pamela is in the office every day, and all of our staff are working remotely.  As mentioned in our prior email, if you must come to the office to pick up a document, please call our office number below and ask for Pamela to make arrangements for your visit.

We’ll get through this difficult time together.  Let us know how we can best serve you.
